Curline Kelly
The story of Goud Teacakes begins with my grandmother, Curline. Her kitchen was more than just a place for cooking—it was the heart of our family gatherings and the source of warmth and nostalgia. Born and raised in the South, Curline was known for her delicious baking and comforting presence.
Her teacakes became a family favorite, often enjoyed during special occasions and quiet afternoons alike. Curline's recipes not only captured the sweet and subtle flavors cherished by generations but also reflected our family’s resilience and love. Through every batch of her homemade teacakes, she shared stories, memories, and traditions that remain with us today.

Apache Goudeau
Our family history is deeply rooted in American culture and perseverance, shaped significantly by my ancestor, John "Wolf" Jackson. John, my sixth great-grandfather, was a proud Cherokee from Georgia, originally owning 500 acres of land. His family faced immense adversity during the forced removal known as the Trail of Tears, tragically resulting in his death along that journey.
John’s children endured capture into slavery, eventually leading his descendants, including Levi Jackson—my fourth great-grandfather—to the Coldspring Mustang Ranch in Texas. Levi, known for his skills training horses, laid the groundwork for our family’s life in Texas. This legacy of strength and determination, passed down through John, inspires the spirit of Goud Teacakes every day.

Originating as crumpets in the UK, teacakes evolved significantly when they reached the Southern United States, transformed by enslaved African Americans into the sweet, comforting baked goods we cherish today.
